All of my pieces are hand cut glass. I use the stained glass method to solder two panes together, with pressed flowers between. I also love to incorporate stained glass in with my floral pieces. All of the flowers I use are foraged, gardened, or gifted, and I press them all myself. I believe what makes my art stand out is my thoughtfulness when pressing the flowers, to ensure they are pressed in a way you may see them in nature… then assembled as such. I absolutely love to capture “scenes” from nature as you would see them on a hike. I also am always striving to experiment and expand my capabilities.
About the Art
The face behind the art
My name is Lauren, and I have lived with my husband, two boys, chicken, dog, and cat, in Denton, TX since 2000. In 2020, Covid left me essentially homeschooling my eldest for a year, and therefore out of my long-time job. Together with my only son at the time, we spent days exploring, hiking, and having fun outdoors and away from crowds. Nature is, and always has been, a place where I feel at home and at peace. That’s where my family found escape, and a chance to bond even closer.
I started collecting things from our adventures, and one of those things would be flowers we would pick. I pressed them, saving them for some future project. That future project became a passion, and my now small business. I fell madly in love with not only pressing flowers, but the art of cutting and designing glass.
Through educating myself on prairie preservation, native plants, and pollinators, I have now started an expansive garden and only collect flowers there, as well as roadsides, construction sites, and other similar areas. I am careful to only collect few where there are many, and to use other ethical practices of collection that do not damage our population of native species.
This hobby turned business is also my therapy and my art, and I’m so insanely happy to share it, and full of appreciation when I hear kind and encouraging words about it. I hope it brings you a little joy, too!
